Jobs: staying safe and posting rules
PlugMall JobSync
A real job never costs you money to get.
If you are looking for work
- Never pay to get a job, an interview, a form, a medical or a uniform. A real employer does not charge you to hire you.
- Check the employer is real before you send your Ghana Card, certificates or bank details. Search for them. Ask someone who works there.
- Apply through PlugMall, or through the employer's own official page when the job gives one. Be careful if you are pushed to another app in the first message.
- Meet at the employer's office or in a public place. Tell someone where you are going.
- Be wary of pay that is far above what the work normally pays, and of a job that wants you to start today with no interview.
- If a job looks wrong, open it and press Report this job. We look at every report.
What PlugMall does
- Only verified accounts can post a job. We have seen the ID of the person or business behind every job.
- Every job is checked by PlugMall before it shows.
- Your CV is private. Only employers you apply to can open it, and it is never shown on your public profile or portfolio.
- Every job has a closing date and comes off by itself when the date passes, so what you see is still open.
- A job that asks applicants for money is taken down, and the account can be suspended.
A check is not a guarantee. We read the advert; we are not at the interview. Use the points above for every job.
If you are posting a job
- Get your account verified. Only verified accounts can post.
- Post a real opening that you have the right to post. If you are a recruiter, or passing on an official advert, say so on the form.
- Use a plain title, the real employer's name, the town, and the pay if you can.
- Set a real closing date. It can be at most 90 days away.
- Wait for the check. Your job shows on the jobs page once it is approved. If it is not approved, you are told why and can edit it.
What is not allowed
- Asking an applicant to pay for anything: registration, training, forms, a medical, a uniform, a deposit.
- Fake or misleading jobs, or using a company's name without its permission.
- Jobs that are really an advert for something else: a course, a product, a recruitment scheme where you earn by signing others up.
- Asking for ID documents or bank details before an interview.
- Work that is illegal, or that puts the applicant in danger.
- Shutting people out for reasons that have nothing to do with the work.
Breaking these rules gets the job taken down. Doing it again, or doing it to cheat people, gets the account suspended. See Enforcement and the Community Guidelines.
